- I Want You . . . : The Sidewalk
Café wanted a quick ticket out of the Second Division. After only
a season, they get their wish. With a little help from Kingston FC and
West End United, Sidewalk Café claimed the CVSA Fall '03 Second Division
Championship with a 5:2 victory over Richmond Battery. Sidewalk Café finished
with a 7-2-0 record, tied with Easy Street FC. Sidewalk wins the tiebreaker
on head-to-head. A nameless scouse nailed the hat trick. Sidewalk moves into an
elimination match in the First Round of the Copa Bruce against Dynamo+ of the
Fourth Division. For those with short memories, Sidewalk's last melee with a
Fourth Division squad is the reason why they are in the Copa Bruce.
- . . . I Need You . . . :: The Fan Rats needed
to return to their glory days, and did, claiming the CVSA Fall '03 Premier Division
Championship with a 2:0 victory over BlackWatch FC. Between the "yee-haws" and the
rebel yells, Anthony Sherwood was set up by a Donkey "thru-head" to score the game
winner. With the Lions twins drawing, the Rats clinch their first major CVSA
championship since Summer '97 with a game to spare. Next up for the Rats is D Funked
in the CVSA Cup, and then the state-level USASA National Amateur Cup final and a
possible trip to the Region I tournament.
- . . . But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love
you: Well, not really. We still love the Rat Masters, who were eliminated from
the Fall '03 Masters Division race with a 0:3 thumping at the hands of a deserving
Edo's Squid. Thus the Rat Masters will be unable to defend their Spring '03
championship, but the seeds have been sown for some intense rivalries in the
Spring '04 Masters. Among them is the Rat Masters next opponent, Poe's Pub Ravens, in
an elimination match in the First Round of the Copa Bruce.
- Now don't be sad / 'Cause two out of three ain't bad:
Congratulations on a fine regular season, and the Fall '03 Premier and Second Division Championships!
December 7 will be a new season as all three of our squads will attempt to advance in Cup play.
- McCourt's Ascendance Continues: Fan Rat Robert McCourt
continues his climb up the ladder of the D-I coaching ranks, this week earning a mention in the
Richmond Times-Dispatch for sucessfully driving to a soccer game. Quoting his favorite actor,
Dustin Hoffman, from the movie Rain Man: "I'm a really good driver".
McCourt, shown above left, displays his skills while teaching the young pups a thing or two. In a strange
irony McCourt is framed by the Virginia State Alcoholic Beverage Control HQ in the background. It's
been a long road to D-I coaching for the north Jersey-bred McCourt, who got his first break as one of Tony Soprano's
runners, and then to head bouncer at Bada-Bing.
- Player-of-the-Week: Anthony
Sherwood earns "Player of the Week" as his first half tally earned the Fan Rats
their first major CVSA championship in six years.

Jimmy Knott, Edo's Squid
All of your co-workers and high school classmates say you're a loser. November 20
proved it. Get a life. And Edo's - get a replacement; you guys can't defend your title
by carrying this dolt for another season.
