05/18/04 - FAN RATS / CVSA CUP -
THE SPRING WRECKING CREW MARCHES ON!: the Fan Rats completed the most impressive run
in CVSA history, completing an undefeated and untied season for 2003-'04, taking the CVSA
Cup with a 5:2 victory over Lions Express at Dorey Park. This title, along with the Fall '03
and Spring '04 Premier Division Championships, was the Rats ninth major CVSA championship.
In Rober McCourt's testimonial match, Matt "the Big Donkey" Kirkpatrick, Kofi Achempong,
& Joey Farrell's hat trick led the scoring parade to which many contributed. The win was the Fan Rats
second CVSA Cup Championship in their fifth finals appearance. The victory gained a measure
of revenge for the 0:3 loss to the Lions Express in the 2002 Copa Bruce Final.

05/09/04 - FAN RATS /
CVSA SPRING '04 PREMIER DIVISION CHAMPIONS - UNDEFEATED: the Fan Rats have become the
first CVSA Premier Division squad in at least 16 years to go undefeated and untied through
the primary season (before 1994-'95 there was only one 11-a-side season that went from
September to May), moving to 16-0-0 for the Fall '03 and Spring '04 regular seasons with
a 3:0 defeat of Capital One FC. Leading the charge was the Rats own version of "Italian
Lightning" - no, not the kind where your mob buddies burn down your restaurant so you can
collect insurance money - in the form of 40 year-old Franchesco "Ricki" LoPresti who broke
a 0:0 deadlock in the 80th minute with an off-balance (is he ever "on-balance"?) strike. From
there the goals flowed like the Italian Army in full retreat as the Rats cruised to a 3:0
victory. Congratulations to all who made this possible!
05/09/04 - FAN RATS / USASA
NATIONAL AMATEUR CUP: STATE CHAMPIONS!! The Fan Rats will represent the MDCVSA in the
Region I Tournament for the 2003-'04 USASA National Amateur Cup. The Rats ventured to the
Maryland Soccer Complex in Germantown on April 18 and defeated the 2003 MDCVSA State Cup
Champions and 2002-'03 USASA national Amatuer Cup State Champions Dynamos FC of the
Washington Premier League (WPL) 2:0. The Rats are the first team from the CVSA and Richmond
to represent the MDCVSA at the regional level. The Rats are scheduled to take on
Lighthouse SC of Eastern
Pennsylvania champion on Sunday, June 6 in Richmond, probably at UR Stadium. Stay tuned and
congrats for going further than any other Richmond team has gone! See the
MDCVSA National
Cups page for details.
05/03/04 - SIDEWALK CAFÉ:
Sidewalk Café put up a valiant effort, but the Pink Panthers proved too much in a 3:4 loss
Sunday, May 2 at Dorey. The Pinks overcame a 2:1 defecit with three unanswered goals in the
2nd half. Sidewalk finishes at 1-6-2, 9th of 10 in the CVSA First Division. Manager Sir Paul
Marsh's status is uncertain as the Club's Board of Directors meets this week to discuss the
future.
05/03/04 - RAT MASTERS: the
Rat Masters finished strong with a 3:0 win over Burtyboy and Capital One Classic. However
they were unable to advance in the standings, finishing 6th of 10 with a record of
4-3-2.
04/29/04 - ROBERT McCOURT, WE
HARDLY KNEW YE: the deep talent pool that is the Fan Rats has been tapped again, this
time by Monmouth University. Robert McCourt will be leaving Richmond for his home turf of
New Joisey to become the head coach at Monmouth University. In a 15-month stint with the
Rats, McCourt distinguished himself in taking part in one CVSA First Division Championship,
one CVSA Cup Runner-Up campaign, two CVSA Premier Division Championships, and a USASA
National Amateur Cup State-level Championship. Wire reports indicated it was these
credentials that landed him the job. No word on whether or not Robert will resume his duties
in Tony Soprano's crew. For more information:

THE WANK(s)
WEEKLY WANK
Baby we can talk all night, but that ain't getting us nowhere
I told you everything I possibly can, there's nothing left inside of here
And maybe you can cry all night, but that'll never change the way I feel
The snow is really piling up outside, I wish you wouldn't make me leave here
I poured it on and I poured it out, I tried to show you just how much I care
I'm tired of words and I'm too hoarse to shout, but you've been cold to me so long
I'm crying icicles instead of tears
And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you
I need you
But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
