08/19/04 - RAT MASTERS BRING HOME
THE BACON - The Rat Masters capped an incredible run for the club for 2003-'04 with a 3:0 win
over previously undefeated Atlas² in the CVSA Summer '04 Second Division Tournament Championship.
Daniel Salomonsky scored two 2nd half goals, including a beautiful header to clinch the win over
top-seeded Atlas² after Gilberto Béjarano opened the scoring with a blast from the top of the box
to give the Rats a 1:0 lead at the break. The Rat Masters finished 11-1-1 and won the club's fourth
CVSA Summer Second Division Championship in the last eight years; previously they were won as
Sidewalk Café (1997) and FC Burrito (2000 & 2002). Special thanks to Coach Johhny X. Giavos, who
sacrificed signifigant playing time down the stretch to keep the troops in line.
The final tally can be found on the
CVSA Summer '04 Playoff Brackets.
08/16/04 - RAT MASTERS SUMMER
VACATION - Lost in the limelight of the parent club's historic achievements is the tidy
campaign of the Rat Masters of the CVSA Summer '04 Second Division. The Rat Masters finished the
regular season at 8-1-1, good for 2nd place in the regular season standings. The first playoff
game brought #7 seed Nemo's Affliction; after a sluggish first half and trailing 1:2 at the outset
of the 2nd half, the boys came to life and secured a 4:2 victory. Tonight's semifinal matchup
pitted the Rat Masters against #3 seed Richmond Blaze FC. The Blaze came out on fire going up
1:0 in short order. The Rats responded with three goals in a five-minute span to go up 3:1. Tomek
Schniekowitenssprotectionossoski let his eastern European hormones get the best of him before the
half, chest-butting a Blaze player and receiving a sendoff in return. Down a man the Rats actually
flourished in the 2nd half, outscoring the Blaze on their way to a 4:1 win and a date with Atlas²
in the championship game Wednesday night at Montrose, 6:30. This will be a rematch of the 2000 Second Division Championship
where FC Burrito defeated Atlas 5:2 at Bryan Park.

08/06/04 - MDCVSA STATE CHAMPIONS:
The Fan Rats have completed the most impressive run in CVSA history with a 4:3 overtime win
over archrival Lions FC in the championship of the 2003-'04 MDCVSA State Cup. The game was a see-saw
battle that saw the Rats come back from a 0:1 deficit after only the 3rd minute, and then see
2:1 & 3:2 leads evaporate under heavy pressure from the Lions.
Arguably the greatest season by any CVSA team in her 30-year history, the Rats are the first CVSA
team to hold the State Championship, and the first CVSA team to represent the MDCVSA at the regional
level in the USASA National Amateur Cup. The final tally was 31 wins and one defeat; among the hardware
tallied:
- Fall '03 CVSA Premier Division Championship
- Spring '04 CVSA Premier Division Chamionship
- 2003-'04 CVSA Cup Championship
- 2003-'04 MDCVSA State Cup Championship
- 2003-'04 USASA National Amateur Cup, State Championship
Congratulations to all that made this possible, including some of our guests players on the National
Cup run.
